How to Use Generic Labels
While a majority of shipments go through Carriers and other services, plenty of other methods of transportation or delivery exist. In these instances, using a Generic Label allows the company to "ship" the order without interfacing or being charged by a carrier.
Example cases:
- Orders are picked up directly by the customer. A generic label will allow the Packer to correctly identify the shipment for the customer, while also fully closing out the order in ShipHero.
- Orders are delivered directly by the warehouse/store. This can include using a different shipping service or app to ship the products after they have been fully packed at the warehouse.
The lack of an attached fee or additional cost makes them a very flexible tool for any warehouse workflow. However, as they lack a carrier, they rely on other systems to ultimately get the order to the customer.
